I see a lot of papers with the spheroid generation topic. I know spheroids are used widely for simulation of tumor condition in body. Can someone say which abilities does the primary cells have which cell line do not have? like generation vascular endotheilal or producing extracellular matrix and which abilities cell line have which primary cells don not have?

Hi Elmira. In our lab we are trying to grow 3D culture of various cancer either from primary tissue (from patient) or cell lines.
As far as I know based on our experience, when we grow it from cell line, the spheroids contain only 1 kind of cell (which is the cell line from where they derived). Meanwhile when we grow them from the primary tissue, in the spheroids will contain more than 1 type of cells, which are not only cancer cells but also other cells e.g stromal cells (though some cells may overgrow some other cells).
