In all literature I read the cyanylating agent 1-cyano-4-dimethylaminopryidinium tetrafluoroborate (CDAP) is used for cross-linking to sugars, in these we obviously have our hydroxyl oxygen connected to carbon.

What I would like to know is, if I have a silica surface and I've hydroxylated it in acidified methanol.

Would the cyanylating agent then function to crosslink an antibody?
