I have Raman functionalised Ag microspheres and wish to coat in polyelectrolyes, however when I transfer them to aqueous solvents for this it becomes far more difficult to wash the sample and I end up losing particles.

I believe that the aromatic organic functionalised surface is making it difficult to fully disperse, and therfore the coating is incomplete

I would like to be able to disperse the polyelectrolytes in ethanol or propanol, this would make it straightforward to coat them.

I have been using Polyacrylic acid, and polyallyamine hydrochloride.

If the above is not feasible, would an alcohol/water mix work?

Thanks in advance to any that take the time to reply
