Can proteinase K degrade antibiotics?
It can degrade antibiotics of proteinaceous nature such as bacteriocins and glycopeptides
bacteriocins are not antibiotics
I know my dear. Glycopeptides other than bacteriocins could be degraded
Thank you very much!!
Dear Virginia:
Not all antibiotics, just Glycopeptides (like Vancomycin and Teicoplanin) and Peptide Antibiotics (like Bacitracin, Polymyxin B, etc…) can be degraded.
Regards
if antibiotics are peptides, then there are more chances of degradation by Proteinase K
Thank you all very much!!!
