I am working on a project for assessing the Antibacterial activity of various chemicals, I was wondering Can i make solution of those components using water as a solvent, depending on the fact that they can form hydrogen bond together which would make them together more likely soluble?
Youssef - Both compounds, cinnamic acid and morin flavonoid, have only a low solubility in water. Cinnamic acid has a solubility in water of 0.5 g per liter at 20 °C, while the solubility of morin flavonoid is ever loser (0.25 g per liter at 20 °C according to Wikipedia). I cannot predict is the solubility of a mixture of the two compounds will have a higher solubility in water. Personally, I would suggest to just try it out! A quick experiment is faster than waiting for more answers. Besides, methanol would be a much better solvent for both compounds. Good luck!

Unfortunately, I haven't tried yet prof Frank T. Edelmann. this question was for a proposal that I was working on. I am currently waiting for its acceptance, I will make sure to read those articles and I will inform here if there is any updates related to this question.
