We are exploring possible data collection methods for environment and behavior research in the context of architectural environments. Have you conducted any Post Occupancy Evaluations (POE) during this year? How do you collect observational data? Are data collection methods confined to online interviews or surveys? Thanks for your help.
Using survey instruments via email should work well. May not work when you your study requires in person contact with the study's subjects.
For socio-cultural or qualitative data, online communication/ interview/ questionnaire survey is the sources.
In the field of behavioral/cognitive/psychological researches, we used online surveys using different survey platforms during the pandemic era. However, it works well only when you know your respondents and have access to them as well.
As for my research, I preferred Telephonic Survey in order to collect data. It has its pros like lesser resource and time and cost requirement, anonymity maintained etc., but draws back on aspects like time for transcription, lack of authenticity etc. It's not foolproof, but in restricted mobility scenario, less developed infrastructure of internet in the taget areas and very limited number of literate respondents, it was the best method I could rely on.
