I am planning to use sera samples from virus-infected mice for ELISA study.

I was wondering if adding PFA to the samples for viral inactivation can have an affect on the cytokine level or on the quality of the sample overall?

if so, is there any other alternative to the use of PFA in order to do viral inactivation in my samples?

Any suggestion/opinion would be greatly appreciated.
