Hello! Im working on my thesis on Fungal Bioremediation and I noticed that my subcultured fungi took on a different color compared to our initial inoculation of it on PDA. I would like to ask if it is possible that fungi morphology could change if the fungi is exposed to different environments or media?
Yes, it is possible. When fungus grow on different media or different environment exposure, their morphology could be change because of different substrate, environment parameters and medium condition.
YES, environmental conditions have influence upon physiological state of fungi and the changes of physiological state can result in morphological changes.

I would like to ask if there is any way to verify the change in morphology? Because I am afraid that it might be mistakenly taken as contaminated samples. What I did in my methods was that I inoculated fungi from preserved glycerol slants into agar and I would like to know if maybe the fungi can change morphology from its transfer from glycerol slants to PDA? Because in normal PDA before we preserved them in glycerol slants looked brown in color but then when I inoculated from the glycerol slants to PDA, it grew a green color.
How would I know its contamination or if they have changed morphology?
Yes of course!!! especially for spores: color, size ect. vary a lot denpending to age, temperature as say Fabiola

Yes, environmental condition plays major role in morphology. But sudden change is might be due to contamination also.
