I cannot seem to find any available sources on the net for these identification guides. I want to try to identify a water strider in a creek in Subic, Zambales, Philippines
Since you are in the Philippines, I suggest you take a sample of this insect to the National Museum of the Philippines, in Manila, and ask for help. I never took insects there, but I went there several times in the 1970 and '80s with samples of plants, and got excellent help with the genera names of plants, and usually the species name, as well. And I took about two types of fresh fish to the Manila Bureau of Fisheries, and got the same help getting the scientific Latin names. For birds, the ornithology experts had about 200 dried samples in drawers of stuffed Phil. birds, and they allowed me and my two native Agta (Negrito) assistants to go through all of the birds, with the two Agta giving me the Agta names while the ornithologists gave me the Latin names. I never took in any insects, but scientists in these places will tell you where to go if you have samples of Gerridae. Thomas Headland (May 21, 2018).
There are some earlier publications (see example below), but identification these insects requires some experience. Better to contact your colleagues at the Museum in Manila (e.g. Henrik Freitag, which is available on RG).
