We are producing a chitosan film with Guava leaves meant to be potentially used for food storage. We will apply this procedure so that the films will not have a dark green appearance. After this protocol, the plant leaves will undergo soxhlet extraction then undergo rotary evaporation when the final extract product will be mixed into the chitosan film.
Is there a way to remove the chlorophyll while maintaining the quality of the plant extract?
So far, we are thinking of boiling it in water and then in ethanol but we are not entirely sure if the quality of the extract will decrease substantially.
