I am trying to grow SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells. or main objective is to get the dendrite and axon structure and neuronal network like growth. We are getting the small connections between neuron to neuron,but it takes 10 days to get even minor connection. In the complete plate we are getting in some places such growth, where as maximum time we get clump growth. So can any one suggest any technique to get neuronal network based growth?

Though, h SH-SY5Y cells are of neural origin they do not differentiate extensively on there own. One needs to employ specialized differentiation protocols such retinoic acid treatment, FBS starving, use of NGF or all of them together, Here is one such protocol for your perusal Article Differe
To answer your question in particular, I have used DMEM f12, HAM with B27 medium. It was supplemented with 10% FBS for maintenance and 0.5 to 5% for serum starvation. I had 40 to 60% cells differentiation to Neurons like morphology.
