Much simpler and cheaper method can be used. See the paper I have published in Food and chemical toxicology in 2015.

Colorimetric method using DNTB as a color reagent. We used a method of enzyme inhibition but you can apply it on homogenate with unknown enzyme activity that can be determined on the amount of degraded acetilcholine using standard curve.
