Now I am trying to produce somatic embryo in medicinal plants please give your valuable suggestions. Can anyone suggest me how I can produce a somatic embryo in medicinal plants and how I can identify this?
To my experience TDZ (0.25- 0.8mg/l) in combination with NAA or BAP (0.1-0.8mg/l) have always shown best results in somatic embryo induction (direct as well as indirect embryogenesis). I have tried these combinations for many endangered medicinal plants including Inula racemosa, Gentiana kurroo, Swertia chirata and Valerian Spp.
For the identification of embryogenesis, use cell suspension and check the cells under light microscope. For more clarification i am attaching a word file with pictures.
Dr Razdan is right. Their is a lot of methods in inducing and developing somatic embryos. You can't avoid having a short survey of the state of art....
Your question is too broad. Each species has particular requirements, but in general, as it have been suggested by other experts, TDZ promotes somatic embryogenesis and can recognize that easily separate from the mother tissue and are similar to the zygotic embión structure.
