Plunge fly into LN2 gas. Use cold mortar and pestle (previously stored at -70C). Grind them to make powder while you add more LN2. They can be stored at -70C until use. Follow any genomic DNA purification protocols.
Just remark to Sang Ho Lee correct answer: To pre-chill mortar and pestle at -70C is really essential!
Mortar dish at RT always breaks when you try to pour in it liquid N2 (my unpublished results from my unfogettable experience to disintegrate T. molitor larvae for DNA isolation).
