i have trying to find literature on this but so far what i got was 1 OD = 0.3661g of yeast dry cell weight. but i havent found literature specifically on candida albicans for the same. Kindly help me on this
As OD of a cell culture is actually a measurement of light diffusion, result is highly dependent on the geometry of your spec (distance between cuvette and the PM). Therefore there is no absolute link between OD and cell number in the sample (or cell weight). So the best for you to do is to determine the relationship between OD and cell weight with your specific equipment.
First of all, there is no particulate relation between DCW and OD and it also varies from instruments accuracy, so that you can't found in the literature. Moreover, in case of dry cell weight you can get accurate cell density, but when you will go for OD, it measures cell lysate also.
Second, you can get relation between OD and Cell No. for S. cerevisiae (For yeast) only.
Therefore I will suggest, as per your convenience, draw a standard curve between DCW, OD and Cell count in a triplicate manner. By that it will be easier to get results.
