I have CNTS and i want to mix it in a solution. As it is hydrophobic surface i tried by putting it in alcohol and sonicated it. but alcohol is affecting the solution and i am not able to get the desired effect. can anyone guide me how can add CNT in solution without effecting solution?

For CNT dispersion, the most effective way is adding surfactant (anionic is usually used). If surfactant has effect on your study, you also can try to use different types of CNTs, such as -COOH functionalized CNT.
For the dispersion study, it is always useful to study the "Zeta Potential" first.

Due to hydrophobic surface of unmodified CNTs , it is difficult to disperse in aqueous solutions .It is necessary to fictionalize of the CNTs surface with amine and/ or OH groups to increase the dispersing capability in water. Also,CNTs can be dispersed stably in water with the aid of a very small amount of ionic liquids .
