Given that the stress is equal to the force divided by the area(width*thickness), what change does the reduction in sample width make to the stress-strain curve? Does stress change occur linearly?
Does the strain parameter remain constant?

There will be a change in curve, true stress-strain curve will move slightly upwards while engineering stress-strain curve will move slightly downwards (acquire lower strength).
Stress is defined as the resistive force divided by crossectional area of the specimen. If you decrease the width, means you have decreased the crossectional area of the sample. Consequently, stress will be increased. However, the nature of the curve will be almost the same and depend on the reduction percent.

When the area under tensile force decreases, less force is required to break the specimen. So the applied force is not constant! it's true? Therefore, the force decreases as the area. Isn't that so?

If you are talking about engineering stress-strain. The bar is assumed to be prismatic in nature (means the cross-sectional area is supposed to be constant throughout its length at a specific time). In this case, force is decreasing as well as the crossectional area is decreasing but the ratio is almost the same (when the time is fixed)
But, for real condition, After yielding of the samples, due to strain hardening strength increases and area decreases due to which true-stress (Ratio of force/area) increases rapidly and true stress-strain curve move towards upward direction.
