I need to prepare diet induced hyperlipidemic rat model. In literature, numerous protocol of high fat diet preparation have been given. While feeding with wet diet, rats are not eating properly when compare with normal pellet diet. Please advise me to find the ideal high fat diet and its preparation.

The high fat diet tends to be semi-solid. Place this diet in heavy ceramic food containers so rats cannot tip them over and after a while (when they are hungry) they will eat it. Daily oral gavage of oil, as suggested by Binnur, though possible, it is tedious. There's always the option of Big Macs and French fries, a large scale proven HF diet! ;)
After a few days of getting used to the HF diet, in the absence of normal diet, rats will eat your experimental diet.

Hi everyone, I'm working on a high fat diet of about 60% from lard using mice, been on for 4days of feeding and compared to the control their food intake is way below, they stopped eating and were losing weight which scares me, and their bodies look as if they're losing hair or sort of dropped in water. HFD is high caloric and satisfy rats rapidly. If u add sugar or milk casien or creamy products that make it more tasty so eat more. Mix the HFD with other palatable food
