Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) can be administered every 72 h with intrapretonial injection in a dose of 2 ml/kg over a period of 21 days. During this treatment period you can give your protective agent(s) starting day one. At the end of the 21 days all the groups are tested for the planned parameters having a standard medication treatment group.

Keep the drug from day 1 to day 7 as it is expected to protect against the toxicity

1.Animal: Mouse
Strain: BALB/c
Sex: Male (male gender is a risk factor for HCC, [Jepsen et al., 2007])
Age: 7 weeks
Weight: 20±2gm
Condition: Pathogen free
2. Toxic agent: Carbon Tetrachloride (CCl4)
3. Vehicle: Olive Oil
4. Solution: 1:1 (v/v) in olive oil
5. Dose: 1ml/kg bw; [0.5ml/kg body weight (final concentration of CCl4)]
6. Route: I.P.
7. Time frame: 3 times/week for 4 weeks (total 12 doses/mouse)
8. Testing compound: 50, 100 mg/kg body weight
9. LCB administration: Monday-Saturday; 6 days/week (total 24 doses/mouse)
10. Positive control: Vitamin E/C, 50mg/kg body weight (total 24 doses/mouse)

Actually I am getting Difficulty on dilution of CCL4 with Liquid paraffin (1:) or 1:7) .
I am unable to suck it through tuberculin injection (1ml). Paraffin viscosity is too high. What can I do for this? Kindly suggest me for this problem I am facing.

Hi Clara, i've been using 10% Coconut Oil to dilute CCl4 instead of olive oil.
