We are growing C. protothecoides on two media: BB and TAP agar. However we have contamination with bacteria and fungi. We solved the problem with bacteria, with adding the antibiotics. However, when it comes down to fungi we can´t get rid of it. We are currently trying to use anti-fungicid, called carbendazim. Yet this is not helping, as it seems that this fungi is resistant to it. We made stock solution of 0,3g/L in EtOH (100%), then put it in the media (after the autoclave) in the following concentrations: 0,05μg/mL, 0,1μg/mL and 0,5μg/mL. In every concentration the fungi grows well but there is no sign of algae whatsoever. From previous molecular analysis we think that the fungi might be Fusarium oxysporum.
