I am planning to buy a real time PCR instrument for my laboratory in Chennai, India. Budget is my primary concern and I am in a great dilemma to decide which machine might be the best choice for us.
I would highly appreciate if you can give me your opinion and your experiences with low cost Real-Time PCR machines.
Further, can anyone share their experiences of working with Genesystem RealTime PCR.

Is it a research or diagnostic lab? For diagnostic, one of the best options is
Rotor-Gene Q MDx from Qiagen. If you have a research-based lab then I recommend a CFX96 touch from BioRad. The QPCR machine in your lab is very critical therefore you may need to think of more investment. These 2 machines hardly can make problems in future. They work almost forever!

I would also go for the Rotorgene. I have been working with it for 12 years (we have two of them). The machine is robust and the software is simple to use. You can also see at first glance if your qPCR is working or not because of the simple graphics (see attached file). It DOES NOT need special consumables if you use 200µl tubes but they should be of good quality. The RG is not as fast as a LightCycler but you can use any common dye for probes or SybrGreen, of course. Instruments by Roche Diagnostics usually need special dyes for probes due to license reasons. These dyes may not be available from every distributor and may be more expensive.

I would also recommended Rotor gene as Mr. Schmidt mention. I use Rotorgene for 3 years (research only) it quite cheap nowdays since it can be operated without ROX, easy to operate and can even perform the HRM analysis.
