My objective is to identify the tissue of origin used for the plant extracts preparation.
Is it possible to extract DNA from any provided plant extracts and subject it to bisulfite sequencing and decipher the tissue of origin based on the methylation level?
There are many uncertains in your question. First of all you need to optimize whether you can isolate DNA good enough quality and quantity for sequencing. And may be before that, you need to figure out if your plant type has methylation mecahanism for gene expression regulation. Would there be differential expression or methylation in the tissue from which the extract has been isolated significantly differs from that of other tissues? Do you know these background information?
Is there any other better method for plant part authentication using the plant extracts
According to me, Metabolomics and metabolite analysis (GC, HPLC, MALDI-TOF etc) could be the best approach. Next approach could be the proteomics.
