My question consists of two parts
1-why different element types give different results even max stresses etc are also at different places ?
2-How we came to know that which element type is best and should be choosen for the required analysis ?
Read the ansys apdl help files, element verification model for different model you will come to know different facts about the different element used for the same model.
Results depends upon element shape and boundary conditions you can give to an element so it may be different as mathematical modelling will change.
For all different elements, you can give different kinds of thermal and structural boundary conditions. So you have to see research papers related to your problem to find out best suitable element type.
