Hello, I wanted to know if there was a general test/s by which we could determine if there is a viral infection without having to specify which virus. Like with sequencing 16 s rRNA by NGS we can find out all bacteria in a sample. is there something equivalent for viruses.?

I do not know if it is commercially available. Otherwise there are a number of Virus "Hallmark" genes as characterized by Eugene Koonin and colleagues, but those are mostly used for virus phylogeny rather than detection.

Sorry, but there is no gene that is present in all viruses - so no viral equivalent to the 16s rRNA gene.
