I am making 200ml of 0.5M EDTA, pH8. I mixed 29.22g EDTA (MW: 292.24g/mol) with 100ml distilled water first (planning to add up to 200ml after measuring pH). I was adding NaOH pellet into the mixture while stirring and suddenly the mixture turns from liquid to white foam (looks like milk foam and has the same consistency). The pH of the mixture is abour pH4. Anyone experience this before?
I have prepared similar solution in the lab. I can assure that the EDTA will dissolve completely and the solution will turn colorless when the solution reaches pH 8. Just make sure you add NaOH pellet one by one and completely dissolve it before adding the next one to prevent pH increasing at once. Cheers.

I manage to get the buffer done, but seems like more NaOH pellet was needed than usual to achieved pH8.0.
Yes even I had to try for so long. But at the end it worked.
