It is widely known that CRISPR Cas9 off targeting may cause cellular mutagenesis, but if the Cas9 cleaved the wrong sequence (off-target) in the homing-drive system (Homing Endonuclease Gene Drive), will it affect the stability of the payload gene to be passed on to the next generation off spring? Would the payload gene still working (recognise the on-target sequence) in the next gen offspring?
