Hi there,
I saw C57BL/6 was the most common mouse strain to be used as heart failure mouse model.
I was just told that Balb/c was not suitable for heart disease, and acutally I don't know exactly why.
Are there any big differences between C57BL/6 and Balb/c mouse for studying heart disease or heart failure?

The C57BL/6 mouse strain is one of the most commonly used strain in experimental research. It is known to differ from other strains in baseline cardiovascular phenotypes as well as in response to pressure overload induced by aortic constriction.

The statement “I was just told that Balb/c was not suitable for heart disease, and actually I don't know exactly why”, may not always be true.
