HCT-116 cells are a well-characterized CRC model exhibiting cancer stem cell-like traits, including colony heterogeneity, self-renewal, multi-lineage differentiation, and gene expression mirroring primary tumors, while minimizing stromal contamination. Their aggressive proliferation, poor differentiation, and lack of CDX1 expression, associated with reduced clonogenicity, render them suitable for mechanistic and therapeutic studies. HCT-116 cells also secrete chemokines such as CXCL16, CCL27, and CCL28, potentially enhancing antitumor immune responses
