Hi
I have modeling the steel plate with thickness 28 mm, and slenderness ratio same as 1( L=2.4,B=0.8 m).
the model post buckling under uni-axial loading analysis with Abaqus/Riks method.
the material model wit bi-linear as: SY=235MPa and strain hardening = E/60. the result tor average stress(s/SY) was over than one(1).
any body here help me for this situation?
Dear Hamid,
As for me, your result seems to be quite realistic, because postbuckling load for plates (unlike shells) monotonously grows, and material isn't perfectly plastic.

but this depend on the thickness or plate slenderness ratio.
for thick pates, the core of plates entered in plastic region and others that states in elastic but in thin plates, all of plate breadth plastic and buckled.

I agree with you that after buckling of thick plate some part of cross-section is in plastic state while the other part can be in elastic state (maybe due to unloading). I would like to know how do you (or Abaqus) calculate average stress.

i model plate with shell.
and in a explicit step, linear in plane loading(displacement) on a edge and fixed opposite edge.
so find the load on opposite edge and divide this load on the multiply of area to SY.
