while dialysis of the silk fibroin solution in 9.3 M LiBr , the silk fibroin solution is converted into GEL during the process of dialysis .. what could be the possible reason ?
Dialyss tubing : 12000-14000 against water
Thats may be due to sudden burst remival of ethanol from your silkfibroin solution, which could be caused due to sudden immersion of SF solution.
Instead slowly dilute the SF by adding water(1:1) to slowly the et.oh. Then dialyze. Hope this will solve your issue
1)Allow the silk to dissolve completely in LiBr ( appears light yellow in colour )
2 )Change deionized water in regular intervals( after 1 hour, 4 hours, minimum of 6 times ) .
3) Maintain low speed of magnetic stirring.
First thing during dialysis the water should be changed frequently in first 24 hours (approx 4 time). the temperature should be maintained during dialysis
