I am wondering why do we often use 70% ethanol for antisepsis and disinfection. Does this mean 70% ethanol is more effective than 80%, 90% or absolute ethanol? I appreciate if some one is able to explain me. Thanks!
"The antiseptic effect of an aqueous solution of alcohol is increasing with increasing concentration over 60%, BUT falls sharply in concentrated ethanol solution. That's why you should not treat hands with pure alcohol - this will not give the necessary disinfecting effect"
