CHEK2-related breast cancers are very chemoresistant. Can somebody explain me, why they are so chemoresistant? Anthracyclines are not working here compared to BRCA1-carriers.
CHEk2-mutated breast tumors tend to be resistant to cell cycle arrest with DNA damage mediated by ATM. Therefore, ATR-CHK1 mutated or ATM-CHK2 mutated tumors can continue to proliferate regardless of the genetic damage due to the chemotherapy.
