I am looking for keywords to write a review about the treatment of families with high indices of psychosocial problems.
It seems likely that as much as environment shapes man, so man selects the environment. Hence in problem families, many problems arise from the behavior and choices of the families themselves. So biological factors like mental illness, conduct disorders, addictions, etc, are relevant, and especially the concept of comorbidity. A family with a genetic predisposition to ADHD will end up with a lot of psychosocial problems, but drugs are an effective treatment for this.
HEE (highly expressed emotion) families, +ve FH (positive family history) families could be part and parcel of "high risk families"!!
I may suggest "vulnerable families", "at risk families", "corrupted families", "susceptible families", "exposed families"
Susceptible families / liable families / high emotion gradient family
common terms used in NSW (Australia) are "Difficult to engage families" "at risk families" , "hard to reach families", "low socioeconomic family groups", "marginalised families", "at risk families",

Anthony. What is a genetic predisposition to ADHD? Has any conclusive evidence been found to establish that there is such a thing? How are the numerous confounding variables accounted for in any such study? Many aberrant behavioural traits are learned, just as socially acceptable ones are. There is no genetic marker for language learning for instance and children born of Chinese parents and adopted at birth by American foster parents show no genetic predisposition to speak Chinese in spite of there being an obvious genetic connection to the natural parents.
There has never been any conclusive evidence that behaviour is genetically determined. Musical parents often have musical offspring and sporting parents have children who excel in sport. This is learned behaviour not genetic!
I have not been convinced so far that any genetic abnormality has ever been found, only hinted at in the absence of any other convenient biological factor to suit modern prescribing fashions. ADHD was not established by discoveries at a cellular, genetic or molecular level, it was invented at a conference by a show of hands.
