In a project we try to predict self-reported emtions with behaviour reactions (facial emotion recognition) while reading. A simple description of the emotions' trajectory during a short reading time (2-3 minutes) consists of the mean, its SD, the slope and its standard error. We calculated single case regression analyses to describe the trajecotory of each subject. Here the standard error of the slope corresponds to the slopes' residuals.

The four parameters are a simple (i.e. simplified) characterisation of each trajectory. These can be used to predict the self-reporterd emotion.

We are looking for good methodological and theoretical arguments to use the SD of the mean and the se of the slope as predictors.
