I am creating a hypothetical study in which there are two drugs being tested. Thus I have taken 60 participants and randomly split them into three groups: drug A, drug B and a control group. A YBOCS score will be taken before the trial after the trial has ended and then again at a 3-month follow-up. Which statistical test should I use to compare the three groups and to find out which was most effective?
Hello Daisy Westion. As Daniel Wright has noted, your description of the study as "hypothetical" does raise the possibility that this is a homework question. Different people have different policies about whether to respond to requests for help with homework. And many of those who do respond to such requests tend to respond with hints, or with questions of their own to determine where a student is stuck. But this is only possible if the student posting the question identifies it as homework. So, with that for context, is this a homework question? Thank you for clarifying.
Hi Daniel Wright Bruce Weaver the question is in regard to a hypothetical grant proposal I am writing about possible therapy options for treatment-resistant OCD. I am currently leaning toward using a mixed ANOVA or F-test in the hypothetical study and was looking for some advice on this. Thanks
It sounds like a mixed-effects model will be appropriate. Also note that you will need to record participant ID in some way so that you can match scores at the different times.
