Are you aware of existing or developing infrastructure works, under which two or more renewable energy technologies are coordinated towards the co-generation of green power energy wordlwide? In general, which renewable-based technologies could be ideally/technically combined to each other towards energy production? Which is the typical output rated power, the advancements, and the technological shortcomings of such large-scale infrastructure works? What about the socio-economic impact concerned?

The current situation of renewable technologies are the following:
• The following renewable energy technologies are available from the commercial points of view:
– Wind
– Solar-photovoltaics,concentrated solar power,and solar thermal
– Biofuels - combustion, ethanol via fermentation, biodiesel
– Geothermal
• The following renewable energy technologies are under developing or research:
– Biofuels - sustainable crops, advanced conversion technology
– Ocean energy – wave, ocean thermal energy conversion
– Advancedsolar
• Enabling Technologies
– Smart electricity grid and infrastructure
– Energy storage – important for grid and transportation
– Electric and hybrid electric vehicles
– Hydrogen and fuel cell

Dear Grigorios,
You can combine different renewable technologies to increase the energy yield from specific sites, but you should do this when necessary, considering the characteristics of each of the technologies used, and the level of energy supplyby these technologies into the electrical grid.

I agree with prof. Jorge, you can combine renewable technologies to increase the electricity generation, but you should take into accounts that the expanding use of renewable techniques depend upon directly on these two important factors:
1. The pattern of electrical load required to be covered.
2. The amount of the electric power that can be produced from the sites in which the renewable resources to be set up.

Highly compatible and relatively new technology are PV-T collectors (production of electrical and thermal energy in one collector), then combination with heat pumps. Consideration should also be taken of energy storage technologies.
There are also many other combinations. for example hydrogen production, desalinization and the like.
The theme is very broad and can not be all mentioned in a few sentences.

Thank you all for your contribution to this theme. Actually, the theoretical viewpoint of this theme is fully addressed. However, it has not yet been posted the geographic spotting/geographic dispersion, where energy infrastructure works are already developed and operative under renewable coupled technologies.
