I need to know which one model is better between ABI GeneAmp 9700 Dual 96-well and ABI Proflex Dual 96-well. I have little experience on with the GeneAmp 9700, but it's not that good. I found evaporation of samples during PCR. However, I have no experience on Proflex system.
I have not used none, however, I would try and check that all the tubes are perfectly closed AND the lid is, in fact, tightened. Even try some other brand of tubes, as evaporation problems are not likely related to the machine if it is capable of leveling temperature to the one you chose; therefore is more probable that the sealing of tubes is far from ideal. Ultimately, buy BIO-RAD machines or Eppendorf, as I believe them to be the most reliable brands. Good luck!
Thanks Israel, for your help here. However, I am making this query as my lab is planning to buy one. I know the reason behind the evaporation problem. It's nothing but because of tubes.

Both the models are pretty good, you can buy either of them. and if you lab is open to explore any other option instead of ABI, you can definitely go for stratagene (now Agilent) which gives you as good machines as ABI . The major drawback of ABI systems is that these are not open systems as far as using tubes/plates is concerned.
Both are OK. ABI 9700 is an earlier version whereas Proflex is a newer one with more features - I think
