While both are being happily used by people while every book of medicine describes their side effects. While there are limits to alcohol consumption in some countries, still no limits to smoking?
Both smoking and drinking are terrible on the body and both have also caused an untold number of cases of physical, psychological, and social harm. As mentioned by Hassan Nima, this link makes an interesting comparison.
I'm an addictologist, and according to the known studies, cigarette seems to be the most dangerous drug for oneself, and alcohol the most dangerous for oneself and the others cumulated. Why do you ask this question, Sikandar Hayat Khan ? Would you need more specific answers ?
Yes, if there is a specific dosage allowed in some countries for alcohal and banned in some other countries then why not such regulation if it is really addictive (may not be the case, not sure) on smoking different kind of things. Should both be not given similar treatments?????banned or some allowable dosage????
or the mafias are strong enough to stop such legislative actions???
Countries that made "War on drugs" now know that ban doesn't mean absence, and that Mafia has a much better life in a prohibition system than in a regulated one.
Thank you to talk about treatment. Unfortunately, as you may know, they are less accessible when the drugs used are considered forbidden. The dangerousness of a product must make us think about how to help those who are victims. A complex topic...
All scientific studies confirm the great damage to wine, and so far there is no single study that says the benefit of wine, except some of the abnormal studies that were prepared for publicity only and for commercial reasons. As the science of medicine develops, a new list of diseases caused by the use of alcohol of all kinds has emerged. A medical study warned that drinking alcohol can lead to many deaths and disabilities, just like smoking and high blood pressure. The team, which prepared the study and published in the British medical journal "Lancet", said that alcohol causes about 60 different diseases. The study dealt with many diseases, including cancers of the mouth, liver, breast, heart disease and stroke, in addition to the role of alcohol in traffic accidents, drowning, fall, poisoning and also killings
Cigarettes are not psychoactive, like alcohol (that is, they do not affect perception, mood, consciousness, cognition, or behavior), butst they are very addictive. There are over 4,000 chemical subances found in a single cigarette; some of them, like nicotine, are what make cigarettes as addictive as they are.
As my colleagues have pointed out, both are habits that too not promote overall health. However each person is different, for somebody with a lung complaint, smoking on top of that could be fatal. Also although both habits are negative, some people receive enough of a positive stimulus from them, that they continue. I think this needs to be understood when treating people who indulge in either of these behaviours. Often they help control a lot of unrecognised and unprocessed pain. Medical drugs often also have this effect.
Which one is worse Smoking cigarettes or alcohol consumption?
Both. Reason being smoking destroys others' & own lungs. Over consumption of alcohol causing a person lacking rationality & hardened his / her liver. Moreover, both habits also cost unnecessary money that can put into better use.
It is wrong to put a ban on things people like to do. However, they should avoid extremities because as the wise adage goes, " moderation is the best policy".
Both are harmful to human health, but cigarette smoking may be less harmful to humans because alcohol addiction causes serious health and psychological damage.
Smoking cigarettes is only bad. Nothing good comes of it, it smells awful, damages your health, damages the health of those around you too. And it's addictive. It should be obvious, in this day when everyone is concerned about pollution of the environment, that concentrated, directly inhaled pollution can't be good.
On the other hand, a moderate amount of wine, red wine in particular, is good for you. Maximum one or at most two glasses per day, however. Obviously, those who are easily addicted should refrain from any alcohol. But recent studies have pretty conclusively shown that red wind, in particular, is an excellent anti-oxidant. Use any search engine to find out.
For the religiously devout, fear not. The Bible does not have anything bad to say about wine, except when imbibed to excess. For the religiously devout, it would be kind of strange to read that Jesus turned water into wine, at the wedding when the wine had run out, and that this wine was better than what the guests had been offered previously.
But that's just religious beliefs. Todays scientific evidence is that in moderation, as explained above, wine is healthful.
Excessive alcohol consumption is known to cause many serious health problems, fatty liver is one of them is very serious problem. It also including the development of 60 major types of disease and approximately 2.5 million deaths
Smoking & Alcohol are in no way to be considered in a positive outlook both are injurious to body & no appreciation or any idea for positive initiative to be appreciated at all .
With this some months back I have expressed my views in this respect for which I submit herewith for your kind perusal
Smoking is injurious to health & so to say a known for sorry episode for the human beings of the entire world but it is unfortunately a fact that it has become a prestige & social standing for the smokers who enjoyed their smoking as a prestige in the past life .
With this it is the known fact that smoking is also an invitation for cancer ,for lung problem , & also such other related areas of health .
I am surprised by a very widespread reality among the young people of my country. They are generations in which sports activities are part of their daily routine, so that tobacco is contraindicated and they are very aware of their damage to health. However, when they have fun drinking alcohol, many times in excess, it is a very present element. And the worst is that they begin to consume alcohol occasionally from very young, alcohol and fun seem two inseperable elements. We should insist in many countries that, like tobacco, alcohol also causes irreparable damage to the body.
As the wise adage states, " Moderation is the best policy". Those who find joy in smoking cigarettes or drinking alcoholic beverages should always keep in mind that extreme positions can jeopardize their health, and in the long run, their happiness.
Moderate alcohol consumption average 20 ml/day may be medicine for lungs against PM2. 5 and sometimes balanced nerve systems subject to to unrest of mind for achievement of peace.
My belief everything in excess is sweat poison and none objectivity others than stree in life of humans.
The best thing is to be able to raise awareness of the damages that these generate, in my country the publicity is not very clear and informative campaigns are needed to prevent young people in early consumption.
