I recently learned that in order to improve the cell adhesive properties of Poly-D-lysine (PDL) one could try to solve the powder in a alkaline buffer instead of dH2O/MQH2O.
Which molarity should the buffer have for this purpose, i.e. dissolving PDL? Does the molarity matter at all?
Also, how long would such a solution hold in -20 Celcius? Are there any preferred storage options?
Borate buffers are normally prepared in two different ways. For pH range 7.8 to 9.2 a fixed volume of 0.05 M sodium tetra borate is mixed with a fixed volume of 0.1 M HCl whereas for pH range beyond 9.2 to 11 a fixed volume of 0.05 M sodium tetraborate is mixed with a fixed volume of 0.1 M NaOH. Hence first find out what pH borate buffer you need for your work and decide the molarity accordingly.
