Most of the studies use primary cells or stem cells for modelling the spinal cord, but as I never worked with these cells, I would like to start with a cell line. Can anybody suggest a good microglial cell line?
Most microglial lines have been used as inflammation models.
The best known mouse microglial line is BV-2 which is easy to culture (similar to RAW264.7 cells in requirement but even easier to manage). However, BV-2 seems to remain commercially unavailable. You may need to write and request or ask around a nearby lab that has a stock of it.
I was looking around for providers of the BV-2 cell line, and you are right it seems is not commercially available.
I had found this SIM-A9 in ATCC website and also they have this C8-B4 cell line, both are mouse microglial line, have you worked with any of them or have any suggestion for choosing between these two cell lines?
