EU law has started as being an odd type of international law, at least in the mind of some scientists, but now-a-days it is no area of national law in the Member States that it is not affected by EU law. Paul Craig asserts that there is no more place for a national law lawyer, but everyone must be acquainted with the EU law in order to practice law in Europe.
