Modelling liver cancer has always been difficult for various reasons. However there are plenty of models available which develop liver carcinoma. But finding an ideal one for a particular study could be a real challenge.
Will depend much on what you want to do. Are you locked into mouse? If not, I would consider rat - there is a abundnace of work published. Esay to induce lver cancer e.g. with nitrosamines (orally), and there is a very nice detailed dvelopment from early preneoplastic lesiond (some of wcich are revesible) through more advanced lesions to fully malignant tumors.
Agree with Enzmann Sir... but its 2 depends on ur budget. otherwise its not a big issue u choose Swiss albino mice (Mus musculus) also. Easy to induce liver cancer.. hepatic carcinoma by nitrosamines family....a potent environmental carcinogen family.
