The mouse model of pneumonia due to infection with mouse-adapted influenza strains (and some natural isolates) has the same gross and histopathology as infection of human lungs with human influenza strains. Some gene expression patterns are similar ie IFN and other cytokines however gene expression similarities between human and mouse influenza infection is the subject of current research.
We have generated mice modelling enhanced RTK signalling for cancer gene discovery, using the HGF/Met system. We have analysed signalling and epigenetic changes in liver tumours from these mice by performing phosphokinome and epigenetic studies. Preliminary bioinformatic studies indicate that a high proportion of changes are similar to those found in human tumours (using Oncomine data).
