Many green synthesis papers are reporting polyphenols are responsible for reduction of metal ions to their nano states. Most of the papers are say ascorbic acid and gallic acid are active components for reduction and stabilization.
I want to know which is best between these two.
I think Ascorbic acid is the good option. As it may protect from air oxidation of your synthesized nanoparticles also.

For producing magnetic NP ascrobic acid is best. because L-Ascorbic acid functionalised 6.5 nm magnetite NPs were obtained using a flow-through supercritical hydrothermal microreactor. L-ascorbic acid was used both as reducing agent and stabiliser, generating water dispersable NPs with high biocompatibility enabling a saturation magnetisation of 23 emu /g
For metal NP
You can use either of them as both are strong antioxidant, phenolics and stabliser.

It is ascorbic acid. But for playing with both you may find justification.

I idea here is to use a weak reducing agent.Citrate has been used extensively for gold and silver NPs, as it also provides charged surface moiety to keep particles apart.
Hi, As many stated Ascorbic Acid is best when compared to Gallic acid.
Further, Ascorbic acid is sensitive to light, use them in amber bottles or just cover the container with aluminum foil. Freshly prepared Ascorbic acid will give you good results.
