The domains are very large. You could work on historical documents, 3D reconstruction of artifacts, forgery detection, virtual reality museum visit, etc.  You can have a look at the attached document to get a glimpse of the possibilities.

IMO, your search would be more fruitful if you first find the domain you prefer and apply any algorithms relevant to solve it

OR

decide on a general kind of algorithm and look for applications in heritage preservation.
