The most problems of subsurface drainage systems are related to an environmental and economical aspects. experts believe that alternative systems, such as control drainage, Bio-drainage and Dry-drainage could help us in this regards. Although sustainability of these systems are under question! but applicability of these approaches are approved at arid and semi arid areas with short water resources and high rate of evaporation! I would like know more about experiences in this regards in all over the world.

To use weltlands also we need drainage system to extract extra water from porous media and conduct it toward wetland! Am I right? So combination of drainage systems and wetlands should be used.
You can use vertical drainage, if it is foothill plains of Iran. Such drainage is widely used in Central Asia (see the Internet). Prof. Starodubtsev V.M.
