I've performed TKD for nano-structured bainite. Hence I used very low step size corresponding to 40 nm. But I wasn't able to achieve this step size since much information is missing from TKD scan. Shall I try EBSD on very thin discs? Will that help? or shall I perform TKD at different parameters? Kindly help in solving the dilemma.
Hi Bhawesh, can you please show what your results look like? 40 nm is not really low step size for TKD. Do you mean you had many non indexed points on TKD map?
How did you prepare the sample for TKD? What were mappin and indexing parameters? What was experimental set up kV, current or spot size, working distance, microscope model and detector model.
To add to Grzegorz Cios answer, you also must consider the interaction volume using the EBSD technique, as it changes from traditional SEM interaction volumes. Even if your step size is sufficiently small, the interaction volumes may overlap and provide multiple orientations.
