I have analyzed the effect of ethanolic extracts from Caulerpa filiformis in vitality, motility and dna fragmentation of human sperm. One of the most interesting results was that concentrations of 4 mg/ml and 0.4 mg/ml of extract could immobilize more than 50% of spermatozoa. I will perform a TLC in order to isolate the fractions. But I was wonder if there any compound from Caulerpales (or any other kind of seaweed) that have reported this effect of sperm.

Thanks Eduardo! I have seen the paper you mentioned (in fact that paper inspire my investigation). I think that phenols could be the reason as some comercial products incluide biphenols for immobilization of sperm. Also as i used ethanolic extract (with a previous chloroformic extraction) the amount of caulerpenyne would be very low if not zero
