I want to model a T bone specimen that is subjected to a sine load. The specimen is clamped in as showed on the figure. I was wondering what I should chose as boundary conditions and how I can make sure that I get a sine load at the top with the shape shown in the figure?
The bottom part of the specimen can be seen as encastre (U1=U2=U3=UR1=UR2=UR3=0)
Not clear what the goal of your analysis is. I think that if the goal is to analyse the stress in the specimen, a FEM is not really necessary because the stress is simple (uniaxial). If you need to compute the stress concentration in the specimen, you can model the specimen alone. Finally, a transient with sinsoidal load can be replaced by a static analysis at max load, unless you have dynamic effects.
Sine load could be prescribed in Step module using amplitude: Tools->Amplitude->Create...: Periodic
Denis Benasciutti, yes only the specimen would be modelled. The objective is to make a fatigue analysis of the specimen if the sine load is applied for about 100 000s (the number of cycles should be around 1e5-1e6 and the frequency of the sine wave is 10Hz ==> total time 1e4-1e5s). But I'm not quite sure how I would implement the total time.
