The concrete tank is filled with water. I am studying the dynamic behavior of tank. Which contact type is to be provided to ensure the relative motion between tank and water ?Is it bonded or no separation ? Can anybody give an answer
when you set a boundary condition as wall. ANSYS maintains zero velocity condition on all the walls and there isn't any need to change this boundary condition. For more information you could use this link for a tutorial about Simulation of Wave Generation in a Tank. It would help you.
I hope you are mentioning about ANSYS FLUENT. Earlier I did it in fluent like that. Due to some problems encountered in system coupling, i can't go forward in that direction.
Now I am modelling in ANSYS WORKBENCH using ACOUSTIC extension. My doubt is about the contact option to be provided in ANSYS WORKBENCH modal and harmonic analysis
Frictionless contact type could be good choice between other types. in this type, individual bodies sense each other, so they are not allow to penetrate in to each other but at the same time they can separate from each other easily. it should be mentioned that frictional type has the same behavior but it would be time consuming.
Is it possible to provide frictionless contact to any kind of analysis? ie. is it possible for modal analysis, harmonic analysis and time history analysis
Absolutely yes. but it should be mentioned that in modal analysis, the initial condition of contact elements is important, so if they stick together, ANSYS will suppose that situation continue during the solution.
if you wanted to solve the problem in other condition (for instance two bodies separate from each other) , you would use prestress modal analysis.
